ASAP. We started reserving things as soon as the books opened for 2010 (18 months before our date) and if we hadn't, we wouldn't have either venue. I'm sure it's not like this everywhere, but I say as soon as you set a date is the best approach. It also allows you to spread things out financially and for the most part is less stressful if you do it over a longer period of time.

It depends on the size of the wedding & what you want to do. People take at least a year to plan a wedding to book the venues, get the clothes, allow for out of town guests to make travel arrangements & lodging, etc. Weddings are higher in the summer, on Sundays & at night. I would suggest an early morning/ mid-day wedding with cocktail hour & cake. It'll be semi-formal, classy & cheaper. Finger food can be fulfilling & not as expensive as a 3 course meal. Good luck & congrats! = D

As soon as you have a date, start planning because the sooner you decide on what you want you can book it so you wont miss out. the earlier the better!!

It really depends on how big your wedding is going to be / how big you want it to be. Also, of course how organised you are with everything. Remember you need to book places, often quite a few months in advance. I'd suggest planning those type of things asap to ensure you don't miss out. Plus you don't want to be really stressed quite close to the wedding Good luck & congratulations

I would start planning a year before the wedding. You want to give yourself time to look at venues and be able to book the one you want. You also want to look at all your vendor options. I wouldn't wait start planning less than 8 months away. You want to give yourself 6 months before hand to get the dress picked out, ordered, and altered if need be.

I think the earlier the better for the best picks of venues and vendors that get booked up quickly. Also you'll have more time to shop around and less stress rushing around to try to accomplish everything. However, the longer the time period the more you may be inclined to purchase extras and change your mind and with a shorter timeline you're forced to stick to yor decisions and the quicker you can get to the fun part of enjoying your wedding. :)
